Are You Ready To Photograph Your Holidays?

During the holidays have you ever thought,
I wish I had someone to help me with the settings for photographing
A. My Christmas tree
B. Lights on my house
C. The excitement of Christmas morning
D. The Christmas Parade as it passes
E. A snowy Christmas scene

Have you ever been frustrated by
A. Motion in your low light photography
B. Finding focus in darker scenes
C. Composing ornaments and gifts in interesting ways
D. Deciding which lens to shoot your tree with

Do you need help knowing
A. A quick way to set your flash for indoor photos
B. How to get really cool starburst light effect
C. How to get those blurry lights in the background
D. Do-it-yourself lighting and backgrounds

For two weeks starting December 7th, I'll help you Capture Your Holidays. In 7 lessons, I'll walk you step by step through specific situations, giving you exactly what you need to capture your holidays this year. As a bonus, each lesson includes an idea list for what to shoot. Lessons are suitable for any camera.

The best part? You can ask questions, post photos and interact with your classmates and me during the fourteen days. You will not be alone with your camera this holiday season!

Want a chance to win a free class pass? Post your responses to the three questions above and you will be entered to win! I'll close comments on Thursday at midnight EST and announce a winner on Friday! Tweet or Facebook a link to this post, come back and leave a comment for each thing you do and increase your odds!

Already registered? Thank you! Consider giving a pass for a friend to join you! Did I mention? Class is only $20

Oh awesome! I'd love to win a free class :)

1, is C for sure! I really hate taking indoor pictures, and I hate using my flash. A happy medium would be great!

2, is A for the same reasons listed above :)

3, is A again.

You rock! Happy Holidays!

During the holidays, I wish I had someone help me with the setting to photograph the lights on my house.

I have been frustrated with composing ornaments and gifts in interesting ways.

I need to know how to get those blurry lights in the background.

Thanks so much, Katrina. Have been recommending your classes to all my photography friends.

B, B, and B. That felt like a magazine quiz! :) Also, another Christmas related concern: got any solutions to keep your twin toddlers from eating the tree? No? That's not covered? Well, I'm sure you could help me get great shots of them doing it. ;)

I wish there was an all of the above for all three questions!!

This season what I am hoping for is just being able to capture some of the traditions that we normally do in the states. I am finding living in a different country a little strange during the holidays.

rhonda said...

can i say "all of the above?" because i need help with it all. i can't get a good shot in the dark, when it is snowing or christmas lights. i want to take some good outdoor photos when we go look at lights around town...need help with that as well.

Do I have to only have one answer? ;)

A. My Christmas tree
B. Lights on my house

B. Finding focus in darker scenes

Do you need help knowing
D. Do-it-yourself lighting and backgrounds

I think my biggest problem is that my house is so dark, even during the day and of course worse at night. Even with my aperture set to widest on my 50mm/1.4 and ISO up to 3200, I still have trouble with motion since I don't like the look of flash photography. I would certainly appreciate some more instruction on these topics. Thanks for the chance to win a spot in your class!

Definitely could use help with my setting for photographing all my holiday happenings. Especially like the sounds of the help with Christmas parade passing by. Hope that includes the night lights parade.

Yes I have been frustrated by all the listed hard to photography conditions you listed.

And yes I would love to know how to on all of your question # 3 list.

Thanks for the chance to win Katrina..

Love your classes ... I could use your help with everything listed! But especially with a quick way to set your flash for indoor photos.
We take a family photo just before we head out the door for church on Christmas Eve. My college boy asked at Thanksgiving if I would know what I was doing this year. You'd think that since we do this every year I'd be on the ball .. not!

2. I would also like to learn how to take pictures with the burry lights on the backgroung. C
3.Do-it-yourself lighting and backgrounds

D.A.A. I'd love to capture lots of motion and be able to work with low light, but if I can't use low light then a reasonable flash. Love you stuff!

Sarah said...

I wish I had someone to help me with the settings for photographing c.) the excitement of Christmas morning. Christmas is so much more fun with kids and it was a bummer last year to miss out on some of the expressions!

I have definitely been frustrated by a.) motion in my low light photography

I need help knowing c.) do-it-yourself lighting and background. You gotta be able to work with whatever you've got, and that's my biggest problem, I only know my way around certain circumstances.
